The green and rolling countryside of Worcestershire, England, is home to the cider apple orchards which surround the gardens of Pear Tree Cottage. They enjoy a sunny south westerly aspect with sweeping views across to Martley Hillside, Woodbury and Abberley clock tower. The Teme Valley lies just over the hill and, not far away, is the Herefordshire border. Although our climate is temperate, our seasons are often uncertain and always a challenge to a gardener! This began in 2010 & follows the weekly ups and downs of garden work chronicling both successes and failures but, above all, demonstrates the fun enjoyed by three people who regularly garden in all weathers

Cold Weather - Warm Welcome!

One day to go before our 'Gardens by Candlelight' Evening and despite the seriously dire weather forecast, Dave turned out and not only fixed the lights in the pond, but also put some L.E.D. strip lighting around the summerhouse! This was all 11th hour stuff late on a Friday evening! Dave in the pond! The wine is here so, if it's a complete washout, we have plenty with which to console ourselves!!  In hopes that the forecast is wrong, I've made lots of lanterns from glitter painted jam jars and also night lights in clay flower pots.  If it pours none of these will even stay alight!  Hey ho!  I can see that if any visitors show up, we'll all be in the conservatory or the summerhouse!! Either way, the welcome will be warm even tho the weather isn't!
