The green and rolling countryside of Worcestershire, England, is home to the cider apple orchards which surround the gardens of Pear Tree Cottage. They enjoy a sunny south westerly aspect with sweeping views across to Martley Hillside, Woodbury and Abberley clock tower. The Teme Valley lies just over the hill and, not far away, is the Herefordshire border. Although our climate is temperate, our seasons are often uncertain and always a challenge to a gardener! This began in 2010 & follows the weekly ups and downs of garden work chronicling both successes and failures but, above all, demonstrates the fun enjoyed by three people who regularly garden in all weathers

Wonderful Wistful Wisterias

2022 is most definitely the year of the Wisteria here in Pear Tree Cottage Garden!!

The Sinensis which grows against the house has been utterly spectacular and no photo or video comes close to doing the slightest justice!  The perfume is divine and floods the house when the windows are open.

My historical and 5th generation Witley Court Wisteria which I propagated from one that grew in my previous garden has now been in the ground for 16 years and is flowering all around the Herb Garden, across the barn, over the Studio and across, up, over and along the pergola!  A younger Wisteria is flowering over the Tool Shed. Lastly a very new Japanese Wisteria is 'getting going' up the garage wall!!

Every garden needs a Wisteria!!
