Too long since my last post but I'm gradually catching up after the awfulness of last autumn/winter. The greenhouse was an utter disheartening mess! Dead, dying and rotting plants. Gradually and slowly plants have been disposed of where necessary, glass cleaned and pruned plants rescued. Seeds have been sown and plug plants potted on. I no longer dread opening the greenhouse door but walk in with hope. Elsewhere in the garden, spring is well under way. Despite earlier gales and very cold - even frosty weather, the garden looks pretty tidy - if you don't look too closely! The Hostas in the Hostalry are certainly waking up and Acers are beginning to leaf up. With Open Gardens looming on 3rd May, I'm hoping the Wisterias will be at their best!

The green and rolling countryside of Worcestershire, England, is home to the cider apple orchards which surround the gardens of Pear Tree Cottage. They enjoy a sunny south westerly aspect with sweeping views across to Martley Hillside, Woodbury and Abberley clock tower. The Teme Valley lies just over the hill and, not far away, is the Herefordshire border. Although our climate is temperate, our seasons are often uncertain and always a challenge to a gardener! This began in 2010 & follows the weekly ups and downs of garden work chronicling both successes and failures but, above all, demonstrates the fun enjoyed by three people who regularly garden in all weathers
